Questions parents ask

Straight answers about what Professor Paws does, what it doesn't, and what it collects.

Does it give children the answer?

Professor Paws teaches first. Help can include visuals, manipulatives, hints and a worked example when needed. In reading comprehension, a child can have a first try and a supported retry before seeing an explanation from the story. Moving on with help is recorded as assisted, not as an independent answer.

If you ever see it slip, tell us — there's a report button right in the lesson.

Is Professor Paws an AI tutor?

It teaches the next step, checks arithmetic in code, and has no chat. The AI writes the lesson — pacing, wording, encouragement — and every phonics letter sound is real recorded human speech.

What data do you collect about my child?

The minimum a learning coach needs: a parent email, a nickname, your child's age, the schoolwork you enter, and learning progress. Homework photos are processed to read the task and are not stored in your child's profile.

Handwriting stays on the device. Nothing is sold, shared for ads, or used to train AI. Details in our Privacy Policy.

What ages and subjects?

Children roughly 8–13, met at the level they're actually working at. Professor Paws covers spelling and phonics; addition, subtraction, times tables, division, fractions, telling time, and money; and reading, with comprehension questions grounded in the passage.

Is a diagnosis required?

No. It's for children who learn differently or regularly find homework overwhelming — with or without a formal diagnosis.

Is it designed for children with ADHD, autism, or dyslexia?

It's designed with ADHD, autism, and dyslexia in mind: one step at a time, no timers, and no penalty for a wrong answer. That is a design intent, not a promise — Professor Paws is not a diagnosis tool or a treatment, and we don't make claims about outcomes. More on how it works.

Can I photograph the homework?

Yes. Photograph the worksheet, or type or paste what school assigned. A photo doesn't reveal the answers — Professor Paws reads the task and turns it into guided steps your child works through. Photos are processed to read the task and are not stored in your child's profile.

Can my child make purchases?

The parent controls real-money subscriptions. Children can spend legitimately earned Bone Bucks on virtual items in Paw Mart. Bone Bucks cannot be bought with real money or exchanged for money.

What device, and what will it cost?

Professor Paws is an iPhone and iPad app, preparing for public App Store launch.

The US subscription prices are $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year. The current introductory offers are 2 weeks free on the monthly plan and 1 month free on the yearly plan for eligible Apple IDs. The App Store shows your local price, eligibility and offer terms before purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled in Apple subscription settings; the parent controls the subscription.

Can I use a Florida education scholarship?

Professor Paws has been placed in the Step Up For Students seller onboarding queue for future consideration; it is not an approved vendor today. What that means for FES-UA and PEP families.

Does it replace school or tutoring?

No — it supports the work your child is already learning, and makes home practice calmer and more accessible.

How do I delete my child's data?

From inside the app: in the parent area, open the child profile (Edit) and choose Withdraw consent & delete data. To close the whole account, open the Parent portal and choose Delete my data. You can also email hello@playprofessorpaws.com from the parent account's email address. Details on the Support page.
